Before tape was invented, people used string and rope. 3. The amount of duct tape sold each year could stretch to the moon and back. 4. Speaking of the moon, the Apollo 13 mission (meant to land on the moon but they never made it) used duct tape to save the astronaut’s lives when something when wring with the air filtration tank. 5. Duct tape was designed during World War I. It was first used to keep water out of ammunition cases. 6. There’s an annual duct tape festival in Avon, Ohio (since 2005)!
